The Wonderful World of Conferences

Me at DisneyI’m at a conference in Orlando this week for work. The conference is going really well. I’ve met a lot of cool people and have gotten to hear some interesting presentations. Probably the most fun so far was last night when I went to the Magic Kingdom with a few guys from work. The last time I’d been there was 10 years ago, so it was great to go again.

Orlando isn’t completely wonderful, though. As a friend from work that’s here with me pointed out, “How can it be the happiest place on Earth and not have Dr. Pepper?” My thoughts exactly!

Texas is all that's important

A friend of mine is from Pennsylvania and is living with her husband in College Station for a few months. Her younger sister came to visit a few weeks ago, and it was her first trip to Texas.

We all went to an Astros game toward the end of her week here. During the game, everyone started singing “Deep in the Heart of Texas.” My friend’s sister commented that “Texans sure are proud of their state. I don’t know of any other states with a song about their state.”

Oh how right she was. Here is a little ditty from Bud Light showing just how proud some Texans are. It’s hilarious. It’s sad that beer commercials are the funniest of the bunch. They don’t get me to buy their product, but they’re good for a laugh.
